Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested seven (7) drug peddlers/smugglers in Baramulla, Shopian & Awantipora and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, Police said that in Baramulla a police party under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Sajjad Bukhari assisted by Incharge PP Delina during routine patrolling at Khaitangan Baramulla arrested a wanted drug smuggler identified as Shabir Ahmad Rather S/o Ghulam Nabi Rather R/o Khaitangan Baramulla and during searches recovered 410 grams of charas like substance from his possession.
Police in it’s above referred statement further said that in another similar action a police party under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Sajjad Bukhari, assisted by SHO PS Baramulla arrested a wanted drug peddler at a checkpoint established at Kanispora Baramulla after they intercepted a vehicle (BMW) bearing registration number HR26BF-0973 driven by one Shoaib Aijaz Goru S/o Aijaz Ahmad Goru R/o Kanispora and during checking of the vehicle recovered16 grams of Brown Sugar like substance from the possession of the said accused.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that a police party under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Sajjad Bukhari, assisted by SHO PS Baramulla during routine patrolling at Fatehpora Baramulla arrested two wanted drug smugglers identified as Mohd Humayan Sheikh S/o Mohd Noor Hussain & Mohd Jiyaul Mostafa S/o Mohd Saifuddin, both residents of Attar Dariyapur West Bengal and during searches recovered 20 grams of Brown Sugar like substance their possession.
Stating that during routine checking at a checkpoint at Habdipura near Pinjura a lady drug peddler namely Parveena W/o Ghulam Hassan “R/o Heerpora Shopian was arrested in Shopian and after proper checking and searches 658 grams of cannabis like contraband substance was recovered from her possession, Police in it’s statement further said that after preliminary questioning, the said female drug peddler disclosed about her plans to deliver the contraband substance to her husband namely Ghulam Hassan Sheikh S/o Ab Gani sheikh R/o Heerpora who was waiting for her at Largam to receive the consignment. Police in it’s statement also said that later on while acting swiftly one Ghulam Hassan Sheikh was arrested and during searches 90 grams of cannabis like contraband substance was also recovered from his possession.
Police while adding said that in Awantipora district also, acting on specific information, a police party of Police Station Pampore alongwith lady team headed by SHO PS Pampore under the supervision of SDPO Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir established a special Naka at Gallander and arrested a lady drug peddler identified as Safeeqa Begum W/o Mohammad Shaban Ganie R/o Lelhar Kakapora and during checking, 1Kg and 800 grams of charas powder was recovered from her possession. Police in it’s statement further said that the arrest and seizure was done with the assistance of Executive Magistrate Pampore, CDPO Pampore and Legal Metrology Department Pulwama.
Police while adding further said that all the accused persons have been shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Stating that police has later on accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and initiated further course of investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned people that it will strictly acts against the people indulging in anti-social activities as per land of the land.
