Maiden All India Women Cricket Championship 2023 Culminates in Sports Stadium Doda

DODA: The 1st all India Women Cricket Championship 2023 organized by the department of physical education and sports Government Degree College culminated the other day.

The tournament was organized under the overall supervision of the College Principal Dr Attar Singh Kotwal and in collaboration with Sports and Fitness Hub Doda here in the Sports Stadium Doda.

Hyderabad Eleven and Sports and Fitness Hub clashed in the final after winning their league matches which were played during the week long tournament at Sports Stadium Doda and Ghat.

Batting first, Hyderabad Eleven scored 44 runs for the loss of one wicket in the stipulated overs when the match was reduced from a 20 over game to 6 over due to wet outfield.

Anita Singh played a brilliant knock of 36 runs with the help of two sixes and three boundaries. In reply Sports and Fitness Hub were restricted to 33 runs only.

The Principal GMC Doda Dr (Prof) Puja Vimesh was the Chief Guest on the occasion and Chanden Manhas was the Guest of Honour. Dr (Prof) Attar Singh Kotwal principal GDC Doda presided over the event.

Speaking on the occasion, the guests congratulated all the players in general and the guest teams from UP and Hyderabad in particular for demonstrating great show of discipline, sportsmanship and dedication. Besides that they urged the girls to come forward to participate in these kinds of sports activities. They appreciated the efforts of Dr (Prof) Attar Singh Kotwal Principal GDC Doda, Mr Bharat Bhushan Director Sports and Fitness Hub, Dr Arjun Singh HOD Physical Education and Sports for providing a platform to girl players to prove their mettle.

In his presidential address Dr (Prof) Attar Singh Kotwal congratulated Sports Committee and teaching and non teaching faculty members of the college for their meticulous efforts in making this tournament successful. He further thanked ZPEO Ghat Mr Surinder Parihar for his support and cooperation. He assured that more such activities shall be organized in future to chisel and hone the talent of young boys and girls.

Later, the guests handed over the trophies to the winners and runners up of the tournament. Besides that the official umpires, scorers, media men, commentators, groundsmen and other volunteers who supported the organisers were also felicitated on the occasion.

Anita Singh of Hyderabad Eleven bagged the best batswoman and player of the tournament award. She was also honoured with woman of the match award.

Varsha Parihar of GDC Doda was presented with the best bowler award of the tournament.

Ifroz Rather, Parmood Thakur, Vinod Bandral and Khalid Hussain officiated as umpires whereas the proceedings of post match presentation were conducted by Dr Jamsheed Ahmad HOD English GDC Doda.

Among others present during the final match are Dr Satish Kumar, Prof Rakesh Kumar, Dr Rajesh Manhas, Dr Sumit Kotwal, Dr Anita Kotwal, Prof Syed Kazim, Prof Preeti Devi, Prof Purnima Manhas, Prof Upma Kumari, Dr Tabassum Saleem, and Dr Manish Thakur.
