Jammu: Police on Saturday said that it has solved a cheating case after recovering a stolen ATM and cash at Janipur in Jammu city
In a statement issued on Saturday District Police Jammu said that a complaint was received by it from one Rohini Kumar Bhat S/O Avtar Krishan Bhat R/O Shiva Enclave Janipur who alleged therein that on May 24 he went to PNB ATM Janipur for cash withdrawal but a person present there fraudulently replaced his ATM and withdrew Rs. 1,70,000 from his account.
Stating that in this regard case FIR No 54/2023 u/s 417/420 IPC was registered at PS Janipur and investigation was subsequently started, Police in it’s statement further said that after this special police teams of Police Station Janipur led by SDPO West Vikram Singh and assisted by SHO Police Station Janipur Inspr Sikander Singh did strenuous efforts and with the help of CCTV footages of the area finally rounded up a suspected person namely Rajat Pal Singh S/o Gurdeep Singh R/o H. No. 299, W. No. 8, khorinar, Poonch.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that during questioning the saidaccused confessed his involvement in the above case and on his disclosure replaced ATM Card along with 02 mobile phones and 08 ATM cards were recovered from his possession, adding that “ Moreover the accused confessed that he bought two mobiles from the cash withdrawn from from replaced ATM”. “Further investigation of the case is going on”, the concluding para of the statement reads. Police in it’s statement also said Jammu police is working intensively to uproot the chains of drug supply in the region and thorough questioning of the accused is going on to know the origin of the drugs supply chain.
