Rajouri : To review and enhance the implementation of child protection services, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, presided over a significant meeting with officers from concerned departments.
The meeting aimed to discuss the sanction of sponsorship in favour of children in dire need of care and protection.
During the meeting, it was revealed that a commendable total of 58 cases have been received by the Child Welfare Committee, highlighting the importance of providing timely and effective support for vulnerable children within the society. These cases represent children who require immediate attention and care, and the Deputy Commissioner, along with the team of dedicated officers, is committed to ensure their well-being and immediately sanction all the cases put forward by the CWC.
Recognising the crucial role of Child Protection Services, the Deputy Commissioner emphasised the significance of a comprehensive and compassionate approach in safeguarding the rights and interests of children. He highlighted the need for a multi-faceted strategy that encompasses not only immediate intervention but also long-term support and rehabilitation to ensure a secure and nurturing environment for these children.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed his gratitude to the officers of the concerned departments for their unwavering dedication and proactive efforts in addressing child protection issues. He stressed the importance of collective responsibility and urged all stakeholders, including the community at large, to actively participate in creating a protective and nurturing environment for every child.
Recognising the detrimental impact of child marriage on the lives of young individuals, the Deputy Commissioner advised the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) to collaborate with religious institutions and women’s panchayati Raj institutions (PRIs). The aim was to raise awareness and sensitise families about the harmful consequences of child marriage. By involving religious leaders and local women’s representatives, it was hoped that a more effective dialogue could be established to discourage and prevent child marriages in the district.
Furthermore, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the pressing issue of increasing drug abuse in the region. Acknowledging the detrimental effects of drug abuse on individuals and society, he emphasised the need to focus on this problem. It is likely that the Deputy Commissioner discussed the implementation of preventive measures, awareness campaigns, and rehabilitation programmes to combat drug abuse effectively. By addressing the root causes and providing support for individuals struggling with substance abuse, the administration aimed to create a safer and healthier environment for the residents, particularly the youth.
