4 drug peddlers arrested in Kashmir distts, Contraband substances, cash also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in different parts of Kashmir Valley and also recovered contraband substances and cash from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Wachi at a checkpoint established near Petrol Pump Melhura Wachi, arrested a drug peddler identified as Shahid Afridi Shah S/o Gh Hassan Shah R/o Melhura and during searches recovered 177grams of Charas, 4 grams of Brown Sugar and Rs. 10,000 (proceeds of narcotic crime) from the possession of the above named accused.
Police in its statement said that in a similar action a police party of Police Station Shopian at a checkpoint established at Sofanaman near Pinjora Crossing, arrested a drug peddler identified as Ab Gani Monchi S/o Ab Rehman Monchi R/o Rakh Chedren and during searches recovered155 grams of Charas was recovered from the possession of the said accused.
Police in it’s statement further said that a police party of Police Station Tangmarg at a checkpoint established at Main Market Tangmarg near Hotel Mahajan, arrested a drug peddler identified as Khursheed Ahmad Bakshi S/o Mohd Rafiq Bakshi R/o Watalpora Tangmarg and during searches recovered 15 grams of Charas from the possession of the said accused.
Police in its above statement further said that in Kulgam district also, a police party of PP Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Furrah, intercepted a suspicious person carrying a nylon bag who after noticing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully , adding therein that the accused was later identified as Arbaaz Ahmad Mir S/o Gulzar Ahmad Mir R/o Furrah and during searches 4 Kgs of Cannabis Powder was recovered from the possession of the said accused.
Stating that all the arrested drug peddlers have been shifted to concerned police stations where they remain in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that it has accordingly registered cases against them under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and investigations have been also initiated into the cases.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that it will acts strictly against the people indulging in drug peddling as per law.
