Plantation Drive conducted in GDC Vijaypur under Mission-LIFE and G20

Samba : Government Degree College, Vijaypur organized plantation drive in the college premises under the flagship banner of ‘Mission- LiFE and G20. Principal of the college, Dr. Vandana Gupta along with teaching and non-teaching staff, Green Warriors and NSS volunteers planted saplings to increase green cover on the college campus.
Earlier, the plantation drive was initiated with the welcome address by Prof. Poonam Kundan (Head Department of Environmental Sciences and Convener Eco-Club). She briefed the students about the importance of planting trees as these are the life line for survival on Earth. She also explained the benefits of planted saplings with their common and scientific names. She motivated the students to plant saplings and also to take ample steps to protect the environment.
Students of the college enthusiastically participated in the plantation drive which witnessed planting of saplings of Alstonia, Toon, Cassia Fistula, Thevetia, Kaner etc by Green warriors and NSS volunteers. Medicinal, herbal and a few ornamental plant saplings were also planted during this drive.
The drive was coordinated by Prof. Poonam Kundan (Convener Ecoclub) and Dr. Shittal Sharma (Convener NSS) and co-coordinated by Dr. Priyanka Ganjoo and Disha Arti.
