Social Welfare Deptt B’gam, DHEW organise Awareness Prog on Welfare schemes

Budgam: Social Welfare department Budgam and District Hub for Empowerment of Women (Mission Shakti) Single Window Support System for Women in collaboration with Sakhi One Stop Centre Budgam on Thursday organized a day-long awareness camp at Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Atina Beerwah.
The camp was organized to generate awareness among students about schemes offered by various departments including Social Welfare, ICDS, Education, JKSWC, JKEDI, Handicrafts, Handloom and financial institution operation in the district for women empowerment.
The team also raised awareness on One Stop Centre and Women Help Line (181) which have been set up at the centre for women in distress including victims of domestic violence and harassment at home as well as at workplace.
The centre also provided temporary shelter to the victims, besides legal services to the women through National, State and district legal services authorities.
The Speakers raised awareness on Women Empowerment and laid emphasis on gender equality and Gender Discrimination.
The team further stressed on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Scheme which aims to address declining Child Sex ratio (CSR) and related issues of empowerment of girls and women over a life cycle continuum.
The participants also took pledged that they shall act in all possible ways individually and collectively to eliminate gender biased discrimination and Sex Selection that threatens the birth and survival of Girl Child.
Continuing the programme, the team also stressed on Drug Abuse, its ill effects and treatment. The team also stressed on drug de addiction centres with multiple therapeutic interventions to combat drug addiction.
The programme was attended by Principal, Vice Principal, Lecturer Govt Girls Higher Secondary School Atina Beerwah, DHEW and OSC Staff.
