Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by Police Station Pattan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz during naka checking near NHW Zangam Pattan intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number DL4CAP-5100 driven by one person and during checking recovered 310 SpasmoProxyvon Plus tablets from his possession and the accused was later on identified as Waheed Sultan Ganie @Raaj Don S/o Mohd Sultan Ganie R/o Shirpora Pattan.
Police in its above referred statement said that in an another similar action, a police party of Police Post Delina under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Sajjad Bukhari at a checkpoint established at Delina Baramulla intercepted a vehicle (Scorpio) bearing registration number JK05B-1660 driven by one person identified as Rouf Ahmad Mir S/o Ghulam Hassan Mir R/o Model Town Sopore and during searches recovered 165 grams of Charas like substance from the possession of the said accused persons arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody and the vehicles used in the commission of crime have also been seized.
Stating further that police has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and accordingly initiated an investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned that it will acts strictly against the people found indulging in drug peddling as per law.
