Rajouri: To ensure the availability of essential services amid the scorching summer months, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, on Wednesday chaired a crucial meeting with representatives from the Power and Jal Shakti Departments.
The meeting was held to devise comprehensive strategies and issue vital directives aimed at guaranteeing adequate power and water supply across the district.
Recognising the importance of addressing the needs of the community during this challenging period, Deputy Commissioner emphasised the significance of maintaining a reliable power supply to support the daily lives of residents in Rajouri District. With rising temperatures and increased electricity consumption, it is imperative to take proactive measures to avoid any inconvenience caused by potential power outages, he asked the officers concerned.
The Deputy Commissioner further emphasised the crucial role of the Jal Shakti Department in ensuring adequate water supply to meet the growing demands of the population. Water scarcity during the summer months can lead to hardships for citizens, and it is essential to implement robust plans to mitigate such challenges.
A slew of directions were issued to the concerned departments to effectively address the power and water supply requirements of the District. Some of the notable measures include: conducting regular maintenance and upgrading work on the power infrastructure to enhance its capacity and reduce the risk of breakdowns; implementing measures to improve the efficiency of power distribution systems and minimise transmission losses.
Ensuring regular monitoring of water supply systems to promptly address any issues and minimise disruptions.
The Groundwater Division was directed to commission the bore well at Bela colony at the earliest.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed his confidence in the joint efforts of the Power and Jal Shakti Departments to fulfill the district’s power and water requirements efficiently. He emphasised the need for a collaborative approach involving the government, department officials, and the community to ensure the successful implementation of these measures.
