Jammu: President Parents Association Jammu Amit Kapoor on Wednesday sought the intervention of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha over his demand for admission of children without TC in Government schools.
Addressing a press conference at Jammu Kapoor said that if children are admitted in government schools without TC in other states of the country, then why it is not done in Jammu and Kashmir. He has urge Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to direct Director of School Education Department Jammu to issue an order in this regard so that children get admission in government schools without TC.
Amit Kapoor said claimed that 25 percent poor children are not being provided free education under the Right to Education Act in private schools, which is a complete “violation of this order”. He said that some time back the Director School Education Department Kashmir had issued an order in this regard orally but no order has been issued in writing due to which the officials of the department cannot give admission to the children without TC.
Kapoor said that if the parents of a child have not been able to pay the fees during the Corona period, then they should be given exemption to some extent, but private schools are neither giving free education to 25 percent poor children, nor offer any relied to children unable to pay the fees for one or the other reason. He said “If a child does not afford to pay fee, then he/she is being given some exemption in fees”, adding that “ this attitude of private schools as inhuman that is tantamount to depriving children of their fundamental right to education”.
Kapoor said that the DCs of Jammu, Rajouri and Samba had set up complaints cells but they have not received any evidence so far, while they have also presented several evidences about the high-handedness of private schools. He said that parents of a child could not pay 15000 fees, adding therein that though parents offer 5000 rupees but still their children are not given TC due to which the child’s education is hanging in balance.
Seeking the intervention of Lt Governor Manoj Sinha into the matter Kapoor urged him to restrain private schools from continuing anti-people practices so that parents get relief. He has also urged the Lt Governor to direct the Director of the Education Department Jammu to immediately issue an order for admission in government schools without TC so that children get relief and their educational rights are secured.
