Sensitization Prog on BBBP, NMBA held at Town Hall Beerwah

Budgam : The District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) in collaboration with Sakhi One Stop Centre for Women on Tuesday conducted an awareness camp on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) and Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA) at Town Hall Beerwah for local women of the Block.
The team DHEW said that the BBBP scheme is to address concerns of gender discrimination and women empowerment in the country. The name Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao translates to ‘Save the girl child, educate the girl child’. The scheme aims to educate citizens against gender bias and improve the efficacy of welfare services for girls.
The team further said that the BBBP Yojana aims to achieve the goals to improve the child sex ratio, to ensure gender equality and women empowerment to prevent gender-bias, sex selective elimination, and to ensure survival and protection of the girl child and encourage education and participation of the girl child.
The team also raised an awareness on different schemes like Pension schemes, Scholarship schemes, Prosthetic Aids, SMAS etc and threw light on Women empowerment schemes available at District level such as DHEW, OSC, WHL 181, Shelter Home, Marriage Assistance Scheme, Ladli Beti, PMMVY, Employment generation schemes such as Tajeswani, Mumkin, PMEGP etc.
The team DHEW and OSC also briefed about Drug Abuse, its ill effects and treatment. The team also stressed on drug de addiction centre with multiple therapeutic interventions to combat drug addiction
The team OSC imparted awareness about the integrated facilities provided at OSC which includes police assistance, medical aid, counseling, legal aid and temporary shelter of five days. The OSC team also sensitised them about the importance of women’s empowerment.
The team also gave detailed information about how they can easily access the One Stop Centre through different modes.
