2-Drug Peddlers arrested in Kulgam, contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam district and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Kulgam led by SHO PS Kulgam during patrolling at Danew Bogund intercepted a suspicious person who on noticing police party tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully by alert police party, adding therein that during searches police recovered 1.7 grams of Charas like contraband substance from the possession of the said accused identified as Mohd Yousuf Khanday S/o Abdul Ahad Khanday R/o Danew Bogund.
Police in it’s above statement further said that in a similar action a police party headed by Incharge Police Post Frisal at a checkpoint established at Peerbal intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No. JK02AU-0653 driven by Kamran Gull Bhat S/o Ghulam Mohammad Bhat R/o Hardu Akad Mattan, Anantnag and during checking recovered 11Kgs of Poppy Straw and 12 bottles of codeine phosphate like contraband substances from the possession of the said accused.
Stating that both the accused have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody and the vehicle used in commission of crime has been also seized, Police in it’s statement further said that cases have been registered under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the facts on ground.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned it will act strictly against the persons found indulging in drug peddling as per law.
