G20: DC Pulwama inaugurates Cricket tournament for Specially-abled Youth

Says “Distt Admin committed to facilitate sports events for youth, with emphasis on specially-abled”

Pulwama : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom on Monday inaugurated South Kashmir’s Cricket Tournament for specially-abled youth at Government Higher Secondary School Kakapora, here.
The tournament was organized by Gram Panchayat Kakapora in collaboration with Handicapped Association Pulwama and attracted huge gathering of spectators.
Speaking on the occasion, DC said that conducting sports events for specially-abled persons will provide them a platform to showcase their talent and fulfill their cherished dreams of performing at state and national level competitions.
He said participation in sports events will boost their confidence to compete in any challenge.
The DC hailed the initiative of conducting cricket tournament at Kakapora and stressed on the concerned to hold such events in other areas of the district. He directed concerned to facilitate such tournaments where persons with special abilities can enjoy to play.
Meanwhile, the Handicapped Association Pulwama extended their gratitude to DC for all the help and also appreciated him for inaugurating the tournament.
Four teams of specially-abled persons of South Kashmir participated in this Cricket Tournament.
The Chief Education Officer, Pulwama, Principal, Government Higher Secondary School, Kakapora, Teachers and other concerned were also present at the event.
