Srinagar :, Police on Sunday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Handwara and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Station Qalamabad at a checkpoint established at Market Qalamabad, intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot after noticing police party but was apprehended tactfully following which he was identified as Asif Ahmad War S/o Gh Ahmad R/o Audoora Qalamabad, adding therein also that police during search, recovered 60 grams of Charas from his possession.
Stating that police accordingly registered a case under relevant sections of law in Police Station Qalamabad and initiated an investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to cooperate with it by coming forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood but warned that it will tough against the people indulging in drug peddling or any other anti-social activity .
