3 drug smugglers booked under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla, poppy cultivation in various parts of the Distt: Police

Srinagar: Police on Sunday saud that it has booked 3 drug smugglers under PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla district and destroyed poppy cultivation in various parts of the district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that drug peddlers namely Zubair Ahmad Pandith S/o Mohammad Hayat, Javaid Rasool Mir S/o Ghulam Rasool, both residents of Gantmulla Payeen & Azad Ahmad Mir S/o Abdul Aziz Mir R/o Dardkote Uri have been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority . adding therein that the booked drug smugglers were detained later and subsequently lodged ar Central Jail Kot-Balwal Jammu where they remain in custody.
Police in it’s above referred statement further said that many a cases were registered against these drug smugglers as they were found involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth of Sheeri, Uri and other areas of district Baramulla, adding therein that despite their involvement in many FIRs, the accused did not mend their activities and were again involved in promoting drug abuse trade by supplying drugs to local youth.
Police in it’s statement further said that in a similar action a police party of Police Post Mirgund led by IC PP Mirgund alongwith concerned Magistrate destroyed illegally cultivated poppy on approx. 1/2 Kanal of land at Alambal Pattan, adding therein that a police party of Police Station Sheeri led by SHO PS Sheeri alongwith concerned Magistrate also destroyed the illegally cultivated Poppy on approx. 1/2 Kanal of land at Fatehgarh Sheeri.
Stating that police accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections law in respective police stations and initiated further investigations into the cases, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that it will act tough against the people indulging in anti-social activities and reiterated it’s commitment make all possible efforts for freeing society from social evils to keep our society from drug abuse.
