Srinagar : Police on Saturday destroyed poppy cultivation spread over vast areas of land in Goshbugh & Delina areas of Baramulla after receiving inputs about illegal cultivation of Poppy (opium plant) in these areas.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, Police said a police party of Police Post Wussan led by Incharge Police Post Wussan alongwith Magistrate under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz, reached the spot at Goshbugh and destroyed the illegally cultivated Poppy spread over nearly about 1 ½ Kanals of land.
Police in it’s statement also said that in a similar action a police party of Police Post Delina led by Incharge Police Post Delina alongwith Magistrate under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Sajjad Bukhari, reached the spot at Delina and destroyed the illegally cultivated Poppy spread over nearly about ½ Kanal of land.
Stating that cases have been accordingly registered under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and further investigations has been also initiated into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to extend cooperation to it and come forward with any information regarding any kind of anti-social activity in their neighbourhood.
