JKCA organises Talent Hunt across 6 venues in J&K

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) organised Talent Hunt for Junior Age Groups and U-23 Women in the last week of April across 06 venues in the J&K, thus covering the entire length and breadth of the Union Territory (UT).

An official has said that, “the talent hunt conducted by Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) was followed by a deep selection camp organised at Hostel Ground Jammu which culminated today.”

He said that in this camp, the U-15 and U-19 women players chosen in the Talent Hunt were made to play matches, “so that standard of their fielding and physical fitness could also be accessed by the selectors apart from their cricketing skills.”

Meanwhile, Brig. Anil Gupta (Retd.), Member Administration, JKCA has thanked the selectors and organisers of the camp for their dedication, transparency and fairness.

He further informed that a number of talented young girls have emerged as potential players during the just concluded trials.

The Girls of U-15 and U-19 category had participated in the camp. Among the U-15 Players, Shruti Thakur from Doda, Ayushi Ambardar from Srinagar, Smriti Majotra from Jammu emerged as bowling all-rounders.

Apart from these girls, battery pace bowlers include Hafsa from Doda, Mannat Tofara from Jammu and Mehvish Jan from Srinagar, while Sonakshi Manhas from Kishtwar has emerged as a Spinner with lots of potential. Among the potential batters are Alisha Jan from Bijbehara and Romani from Udhampur.

Similarly, in the U-19 age group Kajal Devi from Doda, Maria Noorain from Bijbehara, Mehvish Jan from Bijbehara, Tania Sharma from Udhampur and Pavin Kour from Jammu are part of the pace battery Off Spinners found during the Talent Hunt are Tehseem from Bijbehara and Pranavi Bajaj from Jammu.

Among Batters, Vishaka Kesar from Poonch, Shanu Devi from Jammu, Gauri Sharma from Jammu and Sanjana from Kishtwar have left their mark.

Brig. Gupta, stated that the initiative taken by JKCA of Talent Hunt has proved beneficial not only for the Association but it is also providing platform to the talented players from the far-flung areas of the UT to display their talent.

He further hoped that these players will continue to play with dedication and further improve their skills under the watchful eyes of the coaching staff of JKCA.
