DC Rajouri inaugurates U-19 Inter Distt Girls’ Kabaddi Tournament

Rajouri : Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal on Saturday inaugurated the long anticipated U-19 Inter District Girls Kabaddi Tournament in the Mini Stadium Rajouri on Saturday.
Assistant Commissioner Revenue (ACR) Imran Kataria, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Sultana Kouser, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Sunil Singh Samyal, and other senior officers from the Physical Education Department were also present.
The tournament aims to promote women’s sports and foster a spirit of healthy competition, bringing together skilled kabaddi players from different parts of the district. Deputy Commissioner expressed his delight at the passion and dedication shown by the participating athletes, commending their commitment to fair play and sportsmanship.
During the opening ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner engaged in an interactive session with the young students, highlighting the importance of sports activities in holistic education. He emphasized the various benefits of sports, including physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, and resilience among the youth. Encouraging active participation of women in sports, he motivated the young girls to pursue their sporting dreams with determination.
The unwavering support and encouragement from the dignitaries served as a source of inspiration for the participants, motivating them to excel in the tournament.
This tournament is a testament to the commitment of the district administration to promote sports and encourage young girls to participate in sports activities.
He said it is the collective responsibility of all the sections of society to join this fight with determined efforts and proactive approach to bring the youth of Shopian out of the darkness of drug addiction.
He said that sports can keep youth away from drugs and urged the authorities for a need to engage youth in sports activities. Masoodi enjoined upon the youth to get associated with the sports activities regularly as it was vital for their mental and physical development. He said sports activities are pivotal for channelising the energy of youth in a positive direction besides keeping them physically and mentally fit.
