GDC Purmandal organises grand function to celebrate Annual Day

Samba: A gala Cultural Programme was organized in the Government Degree College Purmandal to celebrate “Annual Day and Prize Distribution function. Chairman District Development Council Samba, Keshav Dutt Sharma was the chief guest, while Avtar Singh, Member DDC Purmandal, Sapna Sapolia, Sarpanch, Katwalta and SHO Purmandal, Vijay Verma were the guests of Honour.
The function began with the lighting of the traditional lamp and the release of college Newsletter “RISE” by the chief guest and other guests. The Principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Raj Shree Dhar formally welcomed all the guests and presented the Annual Day Report highlighting the activities and achievements of the various departments of the college.
The Chief Guest appreciated the college authorities for taking different initiatives for overall growth and progress of the students. He expressed his happiness and satisfaction with the development of the educational institution. He said honing of innovative capabilities and fighting spirit would encourage the students to take the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign to its logical end and pave the way for the development and progress of the country.
Later, the chief guest congratulated the awardees and blessed them for their bright future.
In his address, Avtar Singh stressed on the need to inculcate ethics and moral values among the students which will benefit them in the long run.
Sarpanch Katwalta, Sapna Sapolia also shared her valuable views on this occasion. SHO, Vijay Verma congratulated the winners and wished all the best to outgoing students.
A colorful cultural programme featuring Dances, Songs, Skits, Poetry and Speeches by students enthralled the audience. The Students who had brought laurels in academics and extracurricular activities were rewarded with medals, certificates and trophies. The parents of Prize winning students along with a large number of local people attended the programme.
The proceedings of the day were conducted by Prof. Shahima Akhter [HOD EVS]. Members of the administrative and non-teaching staff were also felicitated for their contribution to the institution. The whole programme was organized by Prof. Mohammad Rafi [NSS PO] with the active support of Prof. Lakshmi Sohan[member NSS Committee] and other staff members. The student of the year award was presented to Lakshita of 6th Sem.
