DDC Poonch reviews implementation of schemes, projects of Tourism Deptt

DM calls for promoting sustainable Tourism: Dev of Parks and Cultural Events Planned

Poonch : Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Yasin M. Choudhary on Friday reviewed the various schemes and projects being implemented by the tourism department here at a meeting of officers held in his office chamber.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Poonch, Malikzada Sheraz Ul Haq; CEO Tourism, Dr. Mohammad Tanveer; Tehsildar( Hqr.), Jhangir Hussainn; AEE PDA Poonch, Liaqat Ali, besides other concerned officers were present.
During the meeting, a detailed discussion was held on promotion of tourist destinations of the district including SEVEN LAKES and developmental plan for other tourist spots like Peer ki Gali, Noor-I-Chamb, Mughal road etc
The projects taken up and proposed under Central sponsored schemes and Capex were discussed. Directions were issued to complete ongoing works within stipulated time and tendering of newly proposed works under capex by end of this month.
The DC directed the Tourism CEO to install six large-sized hoardings on the Mughal road to promote the infrastructure and tourism amenities. He also directed to install four hoardings in Jammu and four in Srinagar to project tourist destinations of Poonch District.
The DC also instructed the officers to install swing-slide toys and open air workout equipment in all the tourist spots and parks to make these places more attractive for families and children.
He further directed the officers to organize a cycle rally from Bufliaz to Peer ki Gali/ Himalayan Car/ Bike Rally, Rafting and Paragliding activities to promote adventure tourism and provide unique experience for tourists. He further directed to organize a cultural event( Jashan-E-Poonch) in Poonch, Surankote and Mendhar subdivisions under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav before the Independence Day to showcase the local culture and tradition .
