Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has arrested at least five persons and also seized five vehicles from their possession for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of PP Delina under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Baramulla Sajjad Bukhari seized two vehicles (1 Tractor, 1 Tipper) and arrested 2 persons at Darpora Delina, involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, adding therein that the accused has been identified as Javid Ahmad Lone S/o Late Ab Khaliq Lone and Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat S/o Gh Ahmad Bhat both residents of Delina.
Police in it’s statement further said that in a similar action a police party of Police Station Kunzer under the supervision of SDPO Tangmarg Imtiyaz Ahmed seized three vehicles (tractors) and arrested three persons, involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Ferozpora Nallah Kunzer. Stating that the accused have been identified as At Ferozpora Nallah Kunzer Sadam Hussain Lone S/o Ab Rashid R/o Goigam, Sahil Ahmad Bhat S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat & Mudasir Ahmad Bagh S/o Ab Aziz Bagh, both residents of Peth Kanihama, Police in it’s statement furthermore said that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigation has been also initiated into the case.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police warned that it will take strict action against the people indulging in illegal mining activities as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
