4 drug peddlers arrested, Contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested 4 drug peddlers in North Kashmir and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of Police Post Delina at a checkpoint established at Kanispora intercepted a motorcyclist identified as Inayat Qayoom Baidar R/o Khawajabagh Baramulla (photo journalist) who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully and during searches 12 grams of Brown Sugar was recovered from the possession of the said accused who was later arrested and motorcycle bearing registration number JK05J-2513 was also seized.
Police in it’s statement further said that in a similar action in Baramulla district, a police party of Police Station Baramulla at a checkpoint established at Khanpora Bridge Baramulla, arrested two drug peddlers identified as Afaq Hassan Lone S/o Ghulam Hassan Lone R/o Qazi Hamam Baramulla & Showkat Ahmad Gani S/o Ghulam Mohd Gani R/o Khawaja Sahib Baramulla, adding therein that during searches 160 grams of Charas was recovered from the possession of the said accused who were later shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Police in it’s above statement further saif that in Langate also, a police party of PP Langate at a checkpoint established at Bunpora Langate on Baramulla-Handwara Highway, apprehended a person who tried to flee from the spot in a suspicious manner and during searches 80 grams of Charas was recovered from the possession of the said accused identified as Shabir Ahmad Mir S/o Mohammad Subhan R/o Bunpora Langate who was later shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that police has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned that of stern actions against the persons found involved in anti-social activities.
