It was undoubtedly a historical and a remarkable day in the history of GDC Surankote that a daughter of the soil and first woman professor of Pir Panjal Region has been elevated to this position.
Dr Rani Mughal has been recently selected as Principal by Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission after serving more than two decades as Professor of Botany in Higher Education Department.

She believes that the people of this region do not have much access to knowledge and other privileges of life. But her constant efforts and dedication will definitely go a long way in improving the basic standards of the marginalised people.
She is the first woman from the entire Pir Panjal region who has been given this important responsibility. Her appointment symbolises gender equality and women empowerment initiatives and inspiring other women and girl students to promote inclusivity, diversity and social development.
Dr. Syed Wajahat Hussain, Coordinator IQAC, . Sarshad Hussain HoD Zoology, Dr Mussarat Jabeen Convener College Women Development Cell, Dr Khalil A Reshi Convener College Literary Activities Committee, Dr Muhammad Ashfaq, Presidents IICS & HoD Geography and other members of the teaching fraternity, besides prominent civil society members spoke on the occasion.
Students of the college warmly received and welcomed their new Principal. The Bandish Baaz Band of the college presented College Anthem (Tarana) and cultural items on the occasion.
The entire programme was conducted by Khaleeq Ahmed Qazi, HoD Sociology and Staff Secretary of the college. The concluding remarks were made by Prof. Rani Mughal.
