Though Government’s thrust on quality primary education for children is an irrefutable fact but it is not as intense as is the love of a mother for primary education of her children whose struggle begins with admission to a nursery classes preferably at a private school in Jammu & Kashmir for the one or the other reason. Unfortunately journey of primary education of children begins with their struggle for admission in nursery classes with admission tests at private schools much before they learn the alphabets of English, Urdu or the regional language of their concerned region in Jammu and Kashmir. Testing the mental ability of children much before they learn the alphabets of English, Urdu and regional language of their concerned region shows the concern of private schools for both the mental health of children at the time of their admission in nursery classes and as well as respect to mother’s love for quality primary education to her children. Denying children the admission to nursery classes on the basis of mental ability test conducted by private schools though pushes most of the children into psychological trauma but such complaints from the parents are not entertained seriously by either the Director School Education Kashmir/ Jammu or the Chairperson J&K Committee for Fixation and Regulation of Fee Structure (J&K FFRC) at Private Educational Institutes established for regulating the fee structure of private schools. This bad trend in one way or the other deprives mothers of their legitimate right to seek admissions of their wards in a school of their own choice.

“Knowing that parents are deeply shocked to see themselves deprived of the right to seek admissions of their children in a school of their own choice the onus of respecting the love of parents for the primary education of their children that begins with admission in nursery classes lies on J&K Government’s School Education Department”.

Though School Education Department has imposed certain restrictions on using heavy schools bags but Government has not restrained private schools from holding admission tests for admission to nursery classes yet. Though denying children the admissions to nursery classes on the basis of a mental ability test conducted in violation of the basic child rights is a more punishable offence than allowing children to carry heavy school bags but unfortunately the School Education Department does not seek even simple explanation from private schools denying children the admissions to nursery classes on the basis of a mental ability tests conducted in violation of the basic child rights. Knowing that parents are deeply shocked to see themselves deprived of the right to seek admissions of their children in a school of their own choice the onus of respecting the love of parents for the primary education of their children that begins with admission in nursery classes lies on J&K Government’s School Education Department.
