Rajouri : In an endeavour to improve the living condition of the residents of border villages, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, along with Senior Superintendent of Police, Amrit Pal Singh on Saturday conducted an extensive tour of forward areas along the Line of Control in Nowshera sector.
During the tour the Deputy Commissioner inspected construction of bunkers and progress of development works in Sair Makri and adjoining villages.
The bunkers being constructed include individual and community bunkers to provide much-needed safety and security to the residents from firing and shelling from across the border.
The Deputy Commissioner inspected the bunkers, the suitability of locations, quality of work, design, and community ownership for maintenance. He also convened a meeting with locals and representatives at village Sair Makri, where the villagers were informed about the schemes of the government.
The villagers also projected a number of issues and demands. They sought the payment of bunker construction, the start of work on the tendered bunkers, the sanctioning of PHC at Sair Makri, and other border-specific issues.
The Deputy Commissioner, while interacting with the public of the border villages, stated that the purpose of the visit was to get first-hand feedback of the problems faced by the residents. He assured the villagers that most of the issues raised during previous visits have been resolved.
The issue of payment of border bunkers was also addressed as the Deputy Commissioner informed the villagers that the funds for the same have been released and payment will be made accordingly.
The sanctioning of PHC building for the village was also assured, and it was informed that JJM works for the village are in progress to provide tap water connection to every household.
The shortage of teaching staff was also discussed and the Deputy Commissioner directed the ZEO to ensure that the issue is resolved. The border villages appreciated the visit of the Deputy Commissioner and expressed hope that their issues will be resolved soon.
ADC Nowshera, Kartar Singh; SDPO, Toseef Reshu and other officials accompanied the DC and SSP during the visit.
