Udhampur : Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Sachin Kumar Vaishya on Saturday inspected widening works on Jammu- Srinagar National Highway along Udhampur to Chenani stretch. He conducted onsite inspection of ongoing works and issued a slew of directions to the executing agencies.
Representatives and officials of the construction agencies briefed the DC about the progress and work plan regarding the works on the Udhampur to Nashri stretch. The DC instructed them to expedite the pace of construction to ensure completion within the given timeline.
Later, the DC chaired a meeting of concerned Officers and representatives of National Highway and directed them to take all measures to ensure hassle-free Amarnath Yatra. He asked them to take into consideration the challenges and issues related to security; safe drinking water, power supply; First-aid, sanitation, Identification of locations for stay, Provisioning of temporary toilets, Lodging and langar facilities, proper Traffic management along with check on overcharging and guarantee of fairness of rates.
The DC asked the concerned quarters to put in place suitable arrangements to cope up with the challenges and unforeseen circumstances during the yatra period.
Directions were issued to district heads of various departments to ensure fool-proof arrangements pertaining to their respective department well before the start of the yatra.
The DC directed all the concerned officers to work in coordination and also added that all the arrangements must be put in place well before the commencement of the yatra.
