Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it has seized 4 vehicles and arrested 4 persons in Awantipora who were involved in illegal extraction and transport of minerals in the district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party under the supervision of SDPO Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad assisted by SHO PS Pampore, arrested three persons and also seized three vehicles (tippers) involved in illegal extraction & transportation of minerals at Pampore, adding therein that in a similar action, the police party of PP Reshipora, arrested a person and seized a vehicle (tipper) involved in illegal extraction & transportation of sand at Dogripora.
Stating that police has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and initiated further investigations to ascertain the facts, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statementwarned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt strictly as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
