Jammu : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a drug peddler near Chib Mohalla and also recovered 350 grams of ganja from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu, Police said that the police team of PS Gandhi Nagar led by SDPO South Sachit Sharma assisted by SHO PS Gandhi Nagar Inspr. Pankaj Sharma during patrolling duty rounded up one suspect identified as Nathu Ahirwar S/O Bhanuva R/O Distt. Chattarpur M.P A/P Govind Nagar Digiana Jammu who was carrying 350 grams of ganja with him and the same was recovered on spot following which accused was immediately arrested and shifted to the police station for custody.
Stating that police registered a case vide FIR No. 115/2023 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act at PS Gandhi Nagar and further investigation was also initiated into the case, Police in its above statement said that it has been working intensively to uproot the chains of drug supply in the region by tightening the noose against the persons involved in drug addiction and other anti-social activities.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police said that it has taken every possible step to make people especially youth aware of eradicating drug menace and had accordingly appealed people to come forward and share information about drug peddling or consumption with their respective police unit.
