Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested four persons alongwith 4 vehicles for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz assisted by Incharge Police Post Kungamdara, arrested four suspects and also seized four vehicles including two tippers and two tractors for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals at Ferozpora Nallah Kungamdara, adding therein that the accused four persons were later identified as Mohd Ashraf Wani S/o Ghulam Ahmad Wani R/o Shirpora Pattan, Javid Ahmad Lone S/o Mohd Akbar Lone R/o Hanjiwera Pattan, Showkat Ahmad Reshi S/o Abdul Rahim Reshi R/o Pariswani Tangmarg and Ashiq Ahmad Shah S/o Gh Hassan Shah R/.o Takiya Goonipora Kunzer.
Stating that police has accordingly registered the case under relevant sections of law in Police Station Pattan and initiated further course of investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
