Social Crimes Show Morality, Ethics In Bad Light

Morality and Ethics as all know show the way to social reforms but unfortunately the trend of compromising morality and ethics has generated a congenial atmosphere for the silent rise in social crimes in Jammu & Kashmir. Social crimes spoiling the very foundation of morality and ethics is yet to shake the conscience of even the people who have association of several years with one or the other civil society group. People associated with the civil society groups like the people in the Government talk more about morality and ethics for the purposes of overcoming the growing social crimes and do little to overcome the rising social crimes spoiling the health and education of youth in the present era of digital interventions. Though there is no disagreement on what constitutes morality and ethics but unfortunately civil society groups don’t muster the courage to launch public awareness campaigns against the growing inclination of youth towards the crimes which spoil their health and education. Recently the death of a youth during stunt biking at Boulevard Road Srinagar, the burial of body parts of a girl after her killing by a man in Budgam district and the attack of a girl on her would be husband with a knife though evoked sharp and critical responses from people of all shades and opinions including the people associated with the civil society groups but ultimately criticism is just reducing to condemnations but not the awareness campaigns which would have reduced tendencies of social crimes in Kashmir.

“Lessons of morality and ethics if taught in schools and colleges as demanded by many civil society groups would though surely raise the conscience of youth high enough to keep away from the latest trends and tendencies of social crimes, but till the Government intervenes to introduce morality and ethics as subjects for teaching in schools and colleges the onus of launching a mass awareness campaign on morality and ethics lies on civil society groups who would do better for the future of youth”.

After death of youth in a stunt biking incident at Boulevard road Srinagar few weeks ago the J&K Traffic Police though launched a massive drive against stunk bikers but the low intensity response and cooperation of the people perhaps reduced the intensity of the drive J&K Traffic Police had started against the stunt bikers. A collective conscience against social crimes has perhaps failed to grow in recent years due to reducing intensity of the morality and ethics amongst the people of all shades and opinions in Jammu & Kashmir. Lessons of morality and ethics if taught in schools and colleges as demanded by many civil society groups would though surely raise the conscience of youth high enough to keep away from the latest trends and tendencies of social crimes, but till the Government intervenes to introduce morality and ethics as subjects for teaching in schools and colleges the onus of launching a mass awareness campaign on morality and ethics lies on civil society groups who would do better for the future of youth.
