Committed to provide safe drinking water to all households as per timelines: DDC Shopian

DC also Chairs Block Diwas at Keller; listens to issues, instructs for redressal promptly

Shopian : To take first hand appraisal of public issues at their doorsteps, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb on Wednesday presided over the weekly Block Diwas programme at Keller, Shopian.
At the outset, PRIs, locals appreciated the development works completed during the previous year in the area while putting up developmental requirements for consideration for the ensuing year.
Various public issues, demands and grievances pertaining to water supply, upgradation of transformers, establishment of Degree College, assessment of Hailstorm damage, development of playfields, promoting tourism, conduct of awareness camps, construction of bridges, and roads, etc were put forth by public representatives and people of the villages including Keller, Wathoo, Kathohalan, Mastpora, Moshwara, Dunaroo, Doompora, and other villages.
DDC heard all projected grievances and issues patiently and issued directions for resolving the issues on priority. Many grievances were addressed on spot while assuring people that the rest of the grievances will be redressed in a time bound manner, as per feasibility.
Officers present at the venue also responded to various queries and issues raised by the people.
The DDC also instructed concerned to keep an account of issues and requirements for public welfare, as raised during the public outreach camp.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC was all praise for the tourism potential of the area and said that efforts shall be made to give fillip to the tourism activities in the area especially promoting the eco- tourism potential of Zampathri, Gaddar and Coller.
He also spoke on the ambitious Mission of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and committed for the timely completion of all water supply schemes and filtration plants and the universal coverage of tapped water to all households as per JJM specified timelines.
On the occasion, the ISA team of NEESWO demonstrated the use of the Field Test Kit (FTK) before the audience in presence of DDC Shopian.
Among others, the programme was attended by district/sectoral officers, tehsil and block level officers, officials, PRIs and general masses of various villages of the tehsil.
