2 militant associates held in Sopore, Arms, ammunition & IED also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Acting on the inputs received by it about the presence of two militant associates in north Kashmir’s district headquarter Sopore Police alongwith security forces on Wednesday arrested two militant associates linked with LeT outfot in Sopore and also recovered incriminating materials including arms & ammunition, IED from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on a specific input about the presence of 2 suspected individuals near Saidpora Bypass area, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police, Army (22 RR) and CRPF (179 Bn) in the said area and during search, 2 suspected individuals were spotted trying to run away in an attempt to break the cordon
Stating that after assessing the situation, the vigilant troops displayed situational awareness, extreme restraint and exceptional fire control in not opening the fir and arrested both the suspected individuals on the spot who were later identified as Kaiser Manzoor Mir S/o Manzoor Ahmad R/o Behl Mohalla Saidpora and Muzaffar Majeed Mir S/o Abdul Majeed Mir R/o Shalpora, Brat Kalan.
Police in its statement further said that during initial questioning, both the arrested accused persons confessed that they were working as associates for local active militant Bilal Ahmad Mir R/o Brath Kalan Sopore linked with LeT militant outfit.
Police furthermore in it’s statement said that it has also recovered incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including 15 Pistol rounds, 25 AK-47 rounds, 01 IED and 2 Hand Grenades from their possession, adding there that a case was also registered later under relevant sections of law at the Police Station and further investigation into the case was also initiated.
