Srinagar: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah on Wednesday said that unstable Pakistan is “dangerous” for India.

Reacting on the arrest of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, Farooq said India need a stable Pakistan which is essential for peace in the sub-continent.

He said that the arrest of Imran Khan has been a tragedy of Pakistan for a long time.
The former Chief Minister said that unfortunately Pakistan has a “chequered history” right from the time of independence.

Farooq said that the first Prime Minister of Pakistan Liyaqat Ali Khan was also assassinated and there is a constant history of assassinations.
He said Prime Minister Zulifqar Ali Bhutto was also hanged and his daughter Benazir Bhutto was also assassinated.

“Unfortunately the unstable Pakistan is dangerous for India”, he said and added “we need a stable Pakistan which is essential for peace in the sub-continent”.

He said now with the present situation that Pakistan is going through with desperate economic conditions and the recent floods in Balochistan have put them in a very miserable state.

He said “what we hear here is that the condition of the people of Baluchistan and what we see through the media is very miserable”.

He said it is vital that Pakistan must stabilize its terror.

He said today the Ex Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, who is very popular and asking for elections in the country…I hope he is released for that, Farooq added.
“I hope Imran Khan is not being harmed”, he said and added “most important is that his life is safe”.

He said “we would wish that country well…it is our neighbor…we hope something better would come and people of that nation will have a peaceful life that we all wish for.”
