Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla and Sopore and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of PP Delina at a checkpoint established at Delina Ghat arrested a drug peddler identified as Altaf Ahmad Rather S/o Late Ghulam Nabi R/o Khaitangan Baramulla and during searches recovered 110 grams of Charas from the possession of the above named drug peddler who was later shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s above referred statement further said that in an another similar action, a police party of PS Sopore at a checkpoint established at Kupwara Crossing Sopore arrested a drug peddler identified as Nadeem Rashid Gadoo @Vicky S/o Abdul Rashid Gadoo R/o Shangergund Sopore, adding therein that during searches 288 SpasmoProxyvon Plus Capsules were recovered from the possession of the said accused who was later shifted to the police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that police has accordingly registered a case under relevant sections of law in respective police stations and investigations have also been initiated to ascertain the facts on ground, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood and warned that people indulging in drug peddling will have to face strict actions .
