Police responds to distress call received at Dial-112, Rescues stranded tourists stuck at B-Top JT

Srinagar : Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday received a distress call from a local tourist guide of Tangmarg namely Fayaz Ahmad Mir through the Dial 112 emergency helpline that ten (10) tourists from Andaman & Nicobar Islands traveling in a vehicle bearing registration number HR55AN-9507 who were on their way towards Jammu have lost their way and are stranded at an undisclosed location due to inclement weather.
According to the statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar, on receiving the distress call, the police immediately contacted the stranded tourists and assured them of every possible help after which the stranded tourists was disclosed at the higher reaches of B-Top Jawahar Tunnel Kulgam.
Police in its above statement said that it has further assured the stranded tourists to send the rescue team immediately and informed all the concerned including Police Control Room Kulgam & accordingly, a rescue operation was launched, adding therein that the rescue team comprising of police party headed by SDPO Qazigund, SHO PS Qazigund, In-charge PP Jawahar Tunnel assisted by the teams of civil administration & BEACON successfully located the stranded tourists at the higher reaches of B-Top Jawahar Tunnel Kulgam and rescued them, adding that the team equipped with necessary equipment’s & supplies, braved the adverse weather conditions to reach the stranded tourists and were further provided necessary assistance & help and were shifted to safe accommodation where from they again started their journey towards Jammu. Police said that however, the tourists have expressed their gratitude towards police department for their timely help and necessary assistance.
In the concluding para of the above quoted statement, police on this occasion reiterated the importance of using the Dial 112 emergency response system & have urged the tourists visiting the state to make use of the Dial 112 in case of any distress or emergency situations. Dial 112 provides 24×7 emergency responses and immediate assistance to the callers in distress, besides a special desk for assistance of women in distress is also functional.
