Srinagar: The Meteorological department has predicted more rains and thunderstorms from Saturday evening which may continue for next two days.

The weather on Saturday is generally cloudy at most of the places in Kashmir.

MeT said rain or thunderstorm is most likely to commence from late afternoon or evening at many places of Kashmir, Zojila-Drass and it may spread to Jammu region by night.

For the next two days, rain and thunderstorms are likely to occur at many places in J & K.

“Hailstorm and gusty wind is also possible at scattered places during these two days,” the MeT Srinagar office said.

Due to the wet weather, the day time temperatures are expected to decrease significantly.

The weather department has advised farmers to postpone spraying of orchards and harvesting of crops till May 8.

Rain may cause temporary disruption of surface transportation on Srinagar Jammu and Srinagar- Leh national highways.

The weather is likely to improve from May 9.

Meanwhile, the night temperature recorded a rise in Kashmir.

The temperature in Srinagar last night was 10.4 °C which was 0.7°C above normal for the summer capital.

The winter capital Jammu had 19.7, Banihal, 9.3, Katra 16.1 and Bhadarwah 10 degree Celsius as the night temperature.
