Jal Shakti Abhiyan- ‘Catch the Rain’: DDC B’pora chairs review meeting

Bandipora : The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Thursday chaired a meeting to review the status of works under Jal Shakti Abhiyan (JSA) and its implementation across the district.
The meeting was informed that in District Bandipora 133 sites were identified under Amrit Sarovar, out of which 59 have been taken up, out of which 49 have been completed.
It was given out that 73 sites were identified in Bandipora, 58 in Sonawari and 02 sites in Gurez.
Dr. Owais instructed all the concerned officers to speed up the work under JSA so that the target can be achieved within the stipulated period.
He asked the officers to regularly monitor the quality and progress on all allotted works for time-bound completion.
Dr Owais laid stress on ground water recharging and rain water harvesting. He said that every drop of water is valuable and vital. He directed the concerned that there should be a planned mechanism to hold surface water besides maintaining available water resources.
During the meeting, the DC took detailed review of physical and financial progress of various JJM Works, besides he also discussed authorization for issuance of allotment for various works under JJM in the district.
The meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Bandipora Ali Afsar Khan, Nodal Officer Coordination and ACD Bandipora Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, JD Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Superintending Engineer PHE Hyd. Circle Bpr/Bla H.Q Sopore, Mohammad Haneef, Executive Engineer PHE/Irrigation Bandipora Syed Fida Hussain Rizvi, Executive Engineer PHE/migration Sopore, Executive Engineer PHE Mechanical North Bla/Bpr and others.
