Srinagar: Linemen and Assistant Linemen of Jal Shakti Department put on clerical jobs by some Executive and Assistant Executive Engineeer as heads of Division and Sub Division Offices are likely to face action in coming few days.
Complaints about the Linemen and Assistant Linemen tasked the job of supplying portable water to consumers in their respective Division but illegally assigned clerical jobs by Executive Engineers of concerned Jal Shakti Department have been seriously viewed by the Chief Engineer Jal Shakti Department Kashmir.
It is in place to mention that Years back Government had ordered payment of wages for 32 and half days instead of 30 days to such Linemen and Assistant Line for the purposes of prompt supply of portable water to consumers but complaints are galore that such linemen and Assistant Linemen instead of discharging their duties on water supply schemes in the field have been illegally allowed to work as clerics in Division Offices by the concerned Executive Engineers across Kashmir Valley.
The bad trend set by Executive Engineers in connivance with the Linemen and Assistant Line has not only disrupted the supply of water to consumers but it has also caused a huge loss to the exchequers in view of the fact that they are getting wages even for holidays and Sundays just for promptly supplying portable water to the consumers . When contacted Chief Engineer Jal Shakti Department Kashmir said “Complaints about Executive Engineers having illegally assigned clerical jobs to Line and Assistant Linemen is serious a violation which has been viewed seriously. I will initiate action for the purposes of addressing this bigger issue right in the earnest”.
