Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested7 gamblers in a series of actions in Baramulla and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific inputs about gambling activities at Sultanpora Pattan, a police party of Police Post Wussan raided the specific spot and arrested three gamblers identified as Gh Hassan Khanday S/o Mohd Sultan R/o Wazpora Naidkhai, Mohd Younis Dar S/o Gh Rasool R/o Arampora Sumbal & Ishfaq Ahmad Najar S/o Mohd Abdullah R/o Anderkot Chan Mohalla Sumbal, adding therein that Police also seized stake money of Rs. 4,820/- and playing cards recovered from their possession.
Stating that in another similar action a police party of Police Station Pattan raided a gambling site in the orchards of Buran Pattan and arrested 4 gamblers identified as Gh Mohd Rather S/o Gh Mohidin Rather, Mohd Ashraf Sofi S/o Gh Qadir Sofi, Mohd Sadiq Khan S/o Sonaullah Khan, Manzoor Ahmad Bhat S/o Ali Mohd Bhat, all residents of Buran Pattan. Police in it’s statement further said that it has also seized stake money of Rs. 5,460/- and playing cards from the possession of the above named accused.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that police has accordingly registered the cases under relevant sections of law in Police Station Pattan and investigation has been initiated. In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
