2 fraudsters arrested in Handwara: Police

Srinagar: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two fraudsters for defrauding a shopkeeper and also recovered the property fraudulently gained by them.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said “On 30th April this year Police Station Handwara received a complaint from a shopkeeper who alleged that two persons purchased some electronic items from his shop at Handwara Market and fled from the shop without making any payment”,
Stating that police accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 99/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Handwara and investigation was initiated, Police in it’s statement further said that while acting swiftly, following leads developed during investigation including statements of witnesses and technical evidences, the accused persons involved in the commission of crime were arrested who were later identified as Showkat Ahmad Mir S/o Mohd Yousuf and Noor Mohd Khan S/o Wali Mohd Khan, both residents of Zaloora Sopore.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that on the disclosure of the above named accused electronic items fraudulently taken by them including 1 refrigerator, 1 washing machine, 01 solar panel and 01 inverter battery were recovered. In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police said that the investigation into the case is going on to ascertain further involvement of the accused persons in other criminal cases.
