Seminar on “UPSC Civil Services-Preparation & Strategy” organised in GDC Kishtwar

Joining civil services through UPSC not just a job, it’s a calling to serve and make a difference in society – DC
Kishtwwar : Career Counselling and Guidance Cell of Government Degree College Kishtwar on Tuesday organised a seminar on “UPSC Civil Services-Preparation and Strategy” with Dr. Devansh Yadav, Deputy Commissioner as the Chief Guest.
The program was hosted on the directions of the College Principal Dr. Jyoti Parihar, who presented the welcome address.
Prof. Faisal Mushtaq (Convener Career Counselling & Guidance Cell) introduced the guest speaker to the students & faculty.
Around 200 students of different semesters participated in the Seminar organised in the College Conference Hall, while over 300 students participated through the online mode.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner explained in detail the historical aspect of UPSC, scheme and scope of Civil Service examination and strategies to be adopted for qualifying this prestigious examination.
The Chief Guest shared his own preparation and success journey and the various obstacles faced during the course of preparation. He also discussed the different components of the syllabus, books required for each component along with notes of reputed coaching centers of the country. Stress was laid on the current affairs part in addition to strict adherence to the smart way of newspaper reading. “Joining the civil services through UPSC is not just a job, it’s a calling to serve and make a difference in society”, he said while describing different facets of responsibilities of a Civil Servant.
The seminar was also live streamed on the official facebook page of the College.
A Question-Answer session was also held in the end where the current and pass-out students of the college asked questions regarding the preparation part of UPSC civil service examination.
The meeting ended with the vote of thanks by Dr. Vijay Kumar, H.O.D Hindi.
The Staff present in the programme included Prof. Umar Din Rather, H.O.D Chemistry and Prof Sushil Kumar, Assistant Professor Botany.
