Militant associate arrested with arms, ammunition in Shopian: Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested a militant associate of LeT militant outfits in a joint operation with security forces in Shopian and also recovered incriminating materials, arms & ammunition from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that following specific inputs about presence of militants in Daramdora Keegam Shopian, a joint team of police alongwith Army (44RR) and CRPF (14Bn) launched a Cordon and Search Operation in the said area, adding therein that during searches one militant associate linked with LeT militant outfit was arrested and subsequently identified as Tanveer Ahmad Wani S/o Bashir Ahmad Wani R/o Daramdora Shopian.
Stating that during searches incriminating materials, arms & ammunition including 1 AK series rifle, 1 Magazine and 10 rounds were recovered from the possession of the said militant associate. Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement said that it has also registered a case vide FIR No.65/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Shopian and an investigation into the case has also been initiated.
