Srinagar : Police on Monday said that it has arrested 3 drug peddlers in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by Incharge Police Post Palhallan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz at a checkpoint established at Jamal Mir Pattan intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK01L-4881 with three persons on board who tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during searches 145 gams of Charas like substance were recovered from the possession of the said identified as Riyaz Ahmad Gojri S/o Mohd Ramzan Gojri R/o Jamia Mohalla Pattan, Naseer Ahmad Bhat S/o Ghulam Mohd Bhat R/o Pattan and Imtiyaz Ahmad Sada S/o Mohd Subhan Sada R/o Aram Mohalla Pattan. Police in it’s statement further said that the arrested drug peddlers were later arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody and the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Stating that police has accordingly registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Pattan and investigation has been initiated, Police in the a concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
