Police launches poppy destruction drive in Kulgam

Srinagar : Police on Saturday launched a poppy destruction drive in Kulgam along with officers of Revenue department and destroyed huge cultivation of poppy.
According to statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar police said the special team of Police headed by SHO Police Station Qazigund along with officers of Revenue department launched a special drive against narcotic drug cultivation and carried out the drive at Village Bonigam, Baihama, Babapora and other adjacent areas and on this occasion, the illegal poppy cultivation spread on about 6 Kanals of land was also destroyed during the drive .
Police in it’s statement further said that on this occasion, the people of the area widely appreciated the action taken by the Police and assured their full cooperation in future as well to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society. In the concluding para of it;s above quoted statement Police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding cultivation of contrabands in their neighbourhood and reiterated that the people found indulging in drug peddling & cultivation of contraband substances shall be dealt as per law.
