Srinagar: Police in Handwara on Saturday said that it has arrested a militant associate linked with militant outfit JeM, adding therein that incriminating materials and a hand grenade was also recovered from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that during routing checking at Ganai Mohalla Pazalpora Magam, a joint party of Handwara Police and Army (15RR) intercepted an individual who attempted to evade the joint party suspiciously but he was apprehended tactfully by the alert joint party, adding therein that upon searches one hand grenade and other incriminating material was recovered from the possession of the said accused identified as Khursheed Ahmad Bhat S/o Gulzar Ahmad Bhat R/o Amargarh Tarathpora. Police in it’s statement further said preliminary investigation revealed that the said accused was working as a militant associate for JeM militant outfit, adding therein that a case vide FIR No 95/2023 has been registered under relevant sections of law at Police Station Handwara and investigation into the case has been also initiated.
