Srinagar : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party led by SHO Police Station Pattan under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohd Nawaz during routine patrolling near Trauma Hospital Pattan intercepted a suspicious person who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully, adding therein that during searches 80 grams of Charas like substances was recovered from the possession of the said accused identified as Irshad Ahmad Dar S/o Mohd Akbar Dar R/o Hygam Sopore who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that police has accordingly registered a case under relevant sections of law in Police Station Pattan and initiated an investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood and reiterated that people found indulging in drug peddling activities will be dealt as per law.
