3 gamblers arrested in Awantipora, stake money also seized : Police

Srinagar : Police in Awantipora on Saturday said that it has arrested three gamblers and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that acting on specific inputs about gambling activities in Khrew, a police party of Police Station Khrew headed by SHO PS Khrew Inspector Manzoor Ahmad under the supervision of SDPO Pampore Imtiyaz Ahmad raided the specific site and arrested 3 gamblers on the spot who were identified as Showkat Ahmad Ahanger S/o Gh Ahmad Ahanger R/o Khanmouh, Nisar Ahmad Ahanger S/o Mohd Kamal Ahanger and Mudasir Ahmad Gogri S/o Lal Mohd Gogri both residents of Shar Shali. Police in it’s statement further said that stake money of Rs. 7180/- and playing cards were also seized from the gamblers who were shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Stating that police has accordingly registered a case vide FIR No. 31/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Khrew and initated an investigation in to the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and subsequently appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
