Srinagar : Dr. Shreekar Pant, Coordinator, Centre for Biodiversity Studies, BGSB University has been elected as Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB), UK. Dr Pant has been elected for his outstanding work on Himalayan Biodiversity: assessment, characterization and prioritization for conservation, Ethnobotany and peoples participation.
According to a statement issued from Public Relations Office BGSBU here, the fellowship is the highest level of membership in Royal Society of Biology and is bestowed in recognition of ones scientific contribution to research in Biology.
Dr. Pant joined the University in 2007 and is rendering active services since then. His research interests are Forest Ecology, Ethnobotany and Biodiversity Conservation. It is pertinent to mention that, he has also been a Fellow of Linnaean Society of London and The Society of Plant Reproductive Biologists (Agra). He had been bestowed with several National Awards, including the NEAS Eminent Scientist award from National Environmental Science Academy (NESA), New Delhi.
