Srinagar : Police on Friday said that it arrested three gamblers in Baramulla and seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that while acting on specific inputs about the gambling activities at Bandi Balla forests, a police party of Police Station Chandoosa raided the specific spot and arrested threee gamblers who tried to flee from the spot, adding therein that the accused have been identified as Maqsood Ahmad Beigh S/o Saifullah Beigh R/o Sultanpora, Ab Hameed Ganie S/o Ghulam Qadir R/o Rajpora and Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh S/o Ghulam Hassan R/o Dudbugh Chandoosa. In it’s statement Police however said that one of the gamblers identified as Ab Majeed Sheikh S/o Ab Jabbar Sheikh R/o Dudbugh managed to flee from the spot and efforts are on to nab the accused.
Stating that stake money of Rs. 13,140/- and playing cards have been also seized from the above named accused who were shifted to police station where they remain in custody, Police in it’s statement further said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Chandoosa and an investigation has been also initiated into the matter.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement Police warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
