Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested two persons and have also seized two vehicles from their possession for being involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police Party under the supervision of SDPO Pattan Mohammad Nawaz assisted by IC PP Palhallan arrested two persons and seized two tractors for being involved in illegal extraction & transportation of minerals at Dargam Nallah Palhallan, adding therein that the said accused have been identified as Mohd Yousuf Ganie S/o Abdul Jabbar Ganie R/o Andergam & Bilal Ahmad Dar S/o Mohd Akbar Dar R/o Naidkhai.
Stating that police has later accordingly registered the case under relevant sections of law in Police Station Pattan and initiated investigation into the case, Police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement warned that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and also appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
